Bastar always amaze you whether you lived there or went for the first time. It always gives surprises with its majestic climate, local culture, foods; it has a touch of peace, calm & a longing connection with mother nature.

I have been there in Bastar for a decade but, still it felt untouched, unexplored. Bastar is a region located in the southern part of the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. It is known for its rich cultural heritage, diverse tribal communities, and lush landscapes.

Chitrakote waterfall

Chitrakote Waterfall is the Niagara of India, a popular tourist destination in Chhattisgarh known for its natural beauty and the breathtaking view it offers.

It is referred to as the “Niagara Falls of India,”Because of its width and its widespread horseshoe shape during the monsoon season.
It is located 38kms from Jagdalpur in the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh state.

This Chitrakote falls is a natural Waterfall on the Indravati River.
Height is approx 95feet & width varies with the season, but can extend up to 980 feet during the monsoon.

With every season it changes colour according to the climate condition.

Tirathgarh waterfall

Tirathgarh waterfall is the one of the most beautiful waterfall of Bastar which is in Kanger valley at a distance of 33 km from Jagdalpur.
This is a natural waterfall which is in Munga Bahar river and the height of its fall is nearly around 300 ft.
Its beauty is enhance due to the presence of its stairs like appearance on which water playfully roll down; from the footpoint when you look upwards the waterfall seems like its running directly from the above the sky & it is so white that it appears like milk falling directly from heaven.
The whole sceneric view is surrounded by the forest from all sides.


Tirathgarh waterfall is all season waterfall, it becomes very dangerous & rage full during monsoon due to excess overflow of water which rises & reaches upto its downward trailing stairs. The best time to see the Tirathgarh waterfall is the winter season, this is the time when the water is good & clear.
When you track down near the footpoint of the fall go a little further, a man-made trails guide you there, you would encounter a small waterfall & its fall made & carved the stones in such a way that it formed a natural pool which is not so deep where you could enjoy the natural pool time; but still be cautious.

Kotumbser cave

Kutumbser cave situated in Kanger Valley National Park which is at a distance of 29 km from Jagdalpur.Kutumbser Cave, the Place abounds in stalactite and stalagmite columns.

To reach here you would have to firstly reach Kanger Valley National Park and from here you have to hire the four wheeler ( saffari gypsy ) .

During the monsoon, the cave usually get filled with rainy water & this time only they closed it for tourist.The best time to visit kutumbser cave is in winter.

People who are claustrophobic may find it difficult to enter the cave, as the initial passage is very narrow & constricted but normal individual can easily pass it.
After crossing the narrow path Inside the cave there is enough space for many people to stand straight & walk freely.

There is a natural pool inside the cave and many small aquatic animals could be encountered.

Tamda ghumar & Mendri ghumarwaterfall

Tamda Ghumar waterfall and Mendri Ghumar waterfall are as close to each other.
The distance of Mendri Ghumar waterfall is 47 km from Jagdalpur, Bastar.
It is a natural monsoon waterfall, it holds the beautiful power to hypnotize you during its peak rainy season.

You could reach here either by two or four wheeler ,
It is on the chitrakote road, you have to take left from Lambadguda to reach here.

The journey itself is so delightful.
The view from the cliff of Mendri Ghumar water fall will bewitch all your interests.The best time to visit here is during monsoon.

To reach Tamda Ghumar you will have to go further more 3-4 km forward from Mendri Ghumar. The height of Tamda Ghumar waterfall is around 100 ft.

Dhurwa Dera

Dhurwa Dera is a small village in Bastar, situated 35kms from Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh. It is situated 10km away from sub-district headquarter Darbha. It is known for dense forests, hills & nowadays it is famous for kayaking & Bamboo rafting.

It is 2-3 km from Kanger valley national park, Jagdalpur.
There is a board of Dhurwa Dera, gram- Dhurmaraas which is on the left side when you go from Kanger valley side from there you have to go further 2-3 km to reach the spot

Kanger Dhara Waterfall is located in Kanger Valley National Park which is at a distance of 34 kilometers from Jagdalpur. This beautiful waterfall has a height of 30 feet which falls & make a clear pool near the footpoint, thats makes it the perfect spot for relaxation and photography. The best time to visit the kanger dhara is during winter season.
and that time the surrounding area blooms into lush greenery picturesque view.

It is near the Dhurwa Dera, a place for bamboo rafting & kayaking in Bastar & it is to be the first in Chhattisgarh.You can cover both simultaneously.

Michnar Hills

Michnar Hills is situated 37km from Jagdalpur, Bastar. It is a village in lohandiguda tehesil in Bastar district of chhattishgarh state in India. Nowadays it is more popular among youngsters, college students & also loved by enthusiastic travelers for its Trekking trails.

Bijakasha waterfall

Bijakasa waterfall is one of the Beautiful hidden waterfall of Bastar, which is situated 46kms from Jagdalpur & on the opposite root and in east direction from Chitrakote Waterfall.
It comes under lohandiguda tehshil in the Bastar district.

Bastar is as usually beautiful & famous for its natural preserved wild forest, waterfalls & tribal community, however the Bijakasa puts cherry on the top of Bastar’s beauty.

It was hidden for a very long time due to its slight difficult trekking trails & also because its beauty blooms during the monsoon season.

Mandwa

Mandwa waterfall is situated near the Mandwa village which is at a distance of 38 km from Jagdalpur on Geedam road.
This is a very beautiful mesmerizing waterfall which is surrounded by rice fields from all sides.
This magical beauty of the waterfall comes into life during monsoon season.
